How we like describe Casa Luum in one sentence : “A contemporary & elegant enchanting hideaway in Algarve…”

You will experience its magnificence as soon as you start seeing this elegant house from the driveway. Full of charms and supremely refined, Villa Luum feel harmonious and intimate.

This masterpiece was designed by architect Pedro Domingos near Agostos, on the site of a ruin. The same architect who created Luum’s sister house Pure Villa Agostos.
Domingos’ intervention incorporates its predecessor while putting a modern spin on the traditional architecture of the region.
The living spaces seamlessly blur the line between indoors and outdoors with its minimalist décor. The owners definitely have managed to create a characterful ambiance here.

The furnishings are sleek and on-point: simple but significant pieces like elegant chairs on the roof-terraces and inviting sofas in the living room that are set off by natural accents with a balanced mix of luxurious fabrics and leather structures.

The heart of the house is its spectacular outdoor space: multiple patios and a spacious courtyard that contains a semi-enclosed pool. Stretch out in the sun by the pool during the day, and when the sun
goes down, light the lanterns on the roof-terrace and sit down with a good glass of wine and look at the stars.

A photogenic pool has a stepped entrance and is enclosed by a walled courtyard, while there are patios, decks and terraces off every room.
The house is spread over 2 floors; kitchen on the ground floor and living plus bedrooms upstairs. The fully equipped kitchen features a large cooking island to prepare great dishes, while the outdoor patio space is strategically placed nearby for enjoying typical Portuguese meals outside.
Kitchen counters, sinks and benches are carved from natural stone; wooden shutters are all handmade. The patio is accessible from the kitchen.

On the upper level, the bright living room connects with the lovely garden and a huge rooftop terrace with stunning views of the surrounding nature reserve.
There are four bedrooms here – for six guests in total -, and two bathrooms. All with large windows and open architecture. All bedrooms are modern and minimal yet refined in design and decor.
The white walls and concrete floors create a neutral palette, with the addition of wood and textiles to add warmth.
The two tastefully decorated bathrooms are equipped with walk-in shower, toilet and sink.

And why we love this house so much? With multiple terraces, patios and decks on both levels, you’ll be able to find your optimal resting or dining place at any time of day!
Also nice to mention is that the house integrated many eco- and sustainable practices such as using solar energy to heat the water, using high grade insulation to heat/cool naturally.

Location

The house is located a few minutes from the picturesque village of Santa Barbara de Nexe in the Alentejo, within a short distance to the coast and downtown Faro.
Situated is on the doorstep of the Ria Formosa nature reserve, beaches and the region’s feted wineries. Completely encompassed by nature, nestled among hundreds of olive, almond and cork trees.

The rural surroundings and the proximity to the many attractions of the Algarve make it the perfect destination for a holiday with family or friends.
